16.10.09 SWALEC BOWL DRAW

WRU PRESS RELEASE

Issued: 14 October 2009

HIGH SCORING MONMOUTH HEAD NORTH IN SWALEC BOWL

Monmouth make the long trip north to face Dolgellau in the next round of the SWALEC Bowl as reward for their 104-0 defeat of Forgeside in round one.
With only one league defeat to date, the SWALEC League Division Four East side will be confident of making it to the next stage against the SWALEC Division Two North (Southern) club who have two victories from their four league matches.
Crumlin were also heavy scorers in round one, running in 13 tries in a 96-13 defeat of Aberbargoed at the Kay Field. Their reward, however, is a much tougher task in the next stage after being drawn away to Oakdale.
Crumlin are struggling at the foot of Four East, while their second round hosts are top of Five East after winning all six league games to date.
Six Central side Caerau Ely easily defeated St Albans, of Five South East, 38-0 in an all-Cardiff derby. They now travel down the coast to visit Llantwit Major, of Four South East, hoping to continue their good form.
The draw has thrown up another series of local derbies to look forward to, including Llandybie v Pantyffynnon, Tenby United v Pembroke, Pontarddulais v Tumble, Old Illtydian v Llanrumney, Barry v Clwb Rygbi Cymry Caerdydd, St Josephs (Cardiff) v Rhiwbina, Abertillery BG v Aberbeeg and Oakdale v Crumlin.

The final of SWALEC Bowl will take place at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 8 May.
